Matrix was set up in 2014 by Dominic & Liz Proctor as it had always been a lifetime ambition to run their own business consultancy, where they could utilise the skills they had developed in the corporate world.
 
We are a business management and interim management consultancy, whose specialism lies in enabling businesses and their teams to deliver transformation change in business performance. One of the definitions of a ‘matrix’ in the Oxford dictionary is “a mass of fine-grained rock in which gems, crystals, or fossils are embedded.” Our aim to is to work with you to release those hidden gems of opportunities by challenging conventional thinking in order to overcome obstacles and implement change that will result in sustainable profit and cash growth across your organisation.

The company name

The definition of a ‘matrix’ as ‘the cultural, social, or political environment in which something develops’ resonates with the strong desire to support and help people to develop. Everyone has the potential to perform well, they just need to realise and utilise their strengths and their environment in order to ‘shine’. Sometimes people need help to do this, as they become stuck, need to see things from a new perspective or need to be stretched and challenged and this is where Matrix can help you, your teams and your business.

Dominic Proctor

Dominic is a highly successful  profit-driven business leader and a MBA Graduate from the University of Bradford esteemed School of Management . He is an unconventional thinker with a wide-ranging skill set, who is passionate about utilising his skills to help business owners through the trials and tribulations of running and growing a business. With a decisive and enthusiastic approach to the key areas of: Financial, Sales, Marketing and Operations Management, Dominic thrives on the challenges posed by developing a business and its team to its full potential.
With 30 years ‘real life’ business experience working for Berendsen, Johnson Service Group, Bunzl and Rexel have provided him with as solid foundation of experience in all aspects of business leadership and management. Dominic has: Directed a £40-million-pound turnover Safety Distribution business employing more than 165 employees across 20 UK sites; whereby he increased independent trade sales by 20% year on year, as well as launching a new ecommerce channel and launching a new “own label” product offer.
 
Dominic is also a strategic thinker with strong analytical skills and a detailed understanding of commercial risk that enables him to achieve a significant contribution to any organisation. He has experience of numerous turnaround situations, as well as acquisition integration. He is a practiced relationship and team builder, which allows him to initiate change management over single or multi-site businesses. Dominic has recognised mentoring skills and as well as being approachable, sociable and extrovert, he is able to calmly listen, analyse and mentor you to produce a business strategy which will transform your organisation.

Dominic Proctor is a member of: The Institute for Turnaround (IFT) and The Association of Business Mentors, meaning he is accredited and has the expertise and gravitas specifically for tackling the issues facing the owners and managers of businesses throughout the UK.

Since 2015 he has successfully completed a number of senior interim leadership assignments within E-commerce  Distribution (Big Home Shop PE funded), FMCG Manufacturing (Berendsen Healthcare) and Facilities Management (OCS & G4S FM). Dominic carried out a strategic interim operations role successfully planning and implementing the migration of 3 separate trading subsidiaries. The plan highlighted the key milestones complete with contingency plans which mitigated the identified risks and a management team was recruited to pick the day to day running.

Liz Proctor

Director


Liz Proctor is the co-founder of Matrix Coaching & Development and has a real passion for helping people to learn, develop and grow. She is a learning and development professional with a vast amount of experience. An early career in the commercial world with British Telecom, ICI Acrylics and Marks & Spencer’s gave her an excellent grounding in business skills and knowledge, which she then transferred into the role of teacher and lecturer of Business and Management Studies. Her passion to make a real difference within the workplace led to a move into Staff Development and Training, mainly within large Local Authorities, NHS, Charities and Universities. She has a proven track record of success, working with managers and their teams to improve personal, team and business performance.
 
Liz has a PGCE in Further Education, she is a qualified coach, a qualified NLP practitioner and a certified confidence coach. She is also accredited to use the Margerison-McCann Team Management Systems (a range of psychometric tools to help people to reach their full potential and build highly effective teams).
